Throughout the unit, students will be asked to respond to spoken and written persuasive pieces verbally and on handouts, and in the later stages of the unit students will write a persuasive essay, and produce a magazine article for a chosen target audience. The first evaluation for this unit is a listening test and will take place on November.This exam is the final evaluation of ENG3U online. Students need to arrange their final exam 10 days in advance. All coursework should be completed and submitted before writing the final exam, please be advised that once the exam is written, any outstanding coursework will be given a grade of zero.Your culminating task for the Life of Pi unit, and the course itself, is to write a lost chapter for the novel.Is there a spot in the novel that you felt needed more explanation or development? Can you imagine a sub-adventure for Pi while he is out floating on the ocean with his unlikely colleague, Richard Parker?
In this unit students will be exploring the language and themes of Shakespeare's Macbeth, as well as the reading strategies that will help them understand the play. The skills of planning, organizing, drafting, revising, and polishing a literary essay are examined, practiced, and assessed throughout this unit. 25 hours: Novel Study.Beginning at the outset of Unit 2 you will begin working on an Independent Study Unit (ISU) that will make up 15% of your Final Exam Mark. The ISU will require you to read one book of your choice from a list of books, analyze the book and follow the essay writing process to write a 3 - 5 page Essay Analysis that you will hand in May 31st.
Unit 2: Language Study. Description. This unit will cover essay writing, conventions of the English language, and vocabulary expansion. This ongoing unit will be completed at various intervals throughout the semester. The content may change based on the strengths and weaknesses of the class. We will study the development of the English language.
